Unearthing The Peebles Hoard: a Late Bronze Age hoard from the Scottish Borders

Join us as Dr Matthew Knight, Senior Curator of Prehistory at National Museums Scotland visits the 1722 Waggonway Project!

The Peebles Hoard is a spectacular collection of Bronze Age material excavated from the Scottish Borders. It includes a sword preserved in its scabbard and over 500 pieces of bronze and organic components, which had lain hidden and undisturbed for 3000 years. Investigation is ongoing but it is increasingly recognised this is one of the most significant hoards ever found in Scotland, with little else like it known from western Europe.
